I was born in 2004 in Krasnodar Russia and adopted at 11 months and raised in Texas, USA. Now at 20 I very recently started thinking abt my roots and birth family heavy. I have my birth mom’s full name, birthday, and birth city. It’d be a dream of mine to be able to meet anybody in my family whether it’s my actual birth mom or cousins or just anything. I’ve been very emotional recently thinking about it

Alex, sometimes the unfamiliarity with cultural peculiarities which may lead to the precondition of a child being left in the orphanage is really a bliss. As the one who is closely acquainted with Russian culture I can say that not only economic conditions of these biological mothers and the whole razzle-dazzle in the country at the time contributed to their decisions to give up their kids, but also their utter sexual promiscuity. As alcoholism is much more pervasive in Russian and Ukrainian society than you can even imagine, even more than in warped Maori communities, the thing described in Russian with the verb "perepikhnut'sya", meaning "to have a coincidental sexual intercourse" is quite prevalent in the cases filmed in your videos. These women didn't contracept properly or just had hooked up under the influence of booze or something else, and then fobbed their kids off to orphanages, not necessarily because of dire life circumstances. When the reconnection takes place they expectedly don't want to show themselves in such a unmeritorious light and proceed to tell another story that might somehow justify their past move regarding the child. I see that just like your biological mom, the mother of this girl still struggles with alcohol addiction. It's what you can see and hear from her voice and the indicative face structure she got in the course of the years-long abuse. I know so many kids who were born "by accident" in a drinking spree, or those having been conceived as a result of rape, and whom mothers shuffled off to foster care institutions. Sorry for speaking my mind, Alex, but I think that even some of the health issues you might've had as a child you inherited because of your mom's excessive drinking or smoking during pregnancy. Good that she gave birth to you though, and that you've forgiven freely. Once you learn Russian and live in Russia for a longer while, you'll see how alcohol and spiritual vacuum ruin the life of the whole nation.

Interesting that Victoria’s birth mother says her birth father is not a nice man, saying don’t go and see him. Wonder if the birth mother has stated why the birth father is not nice? If she has not said why, then I would take what she says with a pinch of salt.

Hi, Alex...why do you always go to Russia and the USA in the winter time? LOL! You should go in the summer, which would be winter in New Zealand. I see that you're in middle-class America. Do you think middle-class America is much better than middle-class Russia? It certainly looks like people live better in America than Russia. The homes look much nicer in America than those small apartment flats in Russia.

My nephew was adopted in 1998 from Ulynovsk, Russia. I was fortunate to travel there to meet him and bring him to his home in California. How can he start the research? We have all papers in both languages!

Every time I watch the story of an adopted person the verse from the Quran comes in my mind. My father was adopted… long story. He never had chance to find out who his real parents were because didn’t have the courage to ask his adopted parents for the information. He didn’t want to seen ungrateful or come across as disrespectful to them. Very sad . In the name of Allah the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful . Did He not find thee an orphan and give thee shelter (and care)? And He found thee wandering, and He gave thee guidance. And He found thee in need, and made thee independent. Therefore, treat not the orphan with harshness, Nor repulse the petitioner (unheard); But the bounty of the Lord - rehearse and proclaim

I love that he knows everything about his history. A sign of great parents. They treasured and remembered everything and passed it on.

I am surprised that they only had to jump through all the hoops when they adopted overseas. Why don’t they have to do these things in the US?
